Our leadership frequently supports operating leadership teams in the areas of strategic development, operational and financial improvement, and cross-segment sales or operational synergies on a selective basis.

James M. Lindstrom

Chief Executive Officer

James M. Lindstrom was appointed to serve as our Chief Executive Officer effective August 6, 2015, having previously served as our Chief Financial Officer since January 2015. Mr. Lindstrom joined Providence in January 2015 from Integrated Electrical Services, Inc. (IES), a publically traded industrial holding company, where he was Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer. He joined IES as a director in 2010 and was named Chief Executive Officer in 2011. As CEO, he led the financial turnaround and strategic transformation of IES from an electrical contractor into a profitable industrial holding company. Prior to joining IES, he spent five years as an employee of Tontine Associates, an affiliate of a private investment fund. Previous operating experience includes his role as Chief Financial Officer of Centrue Financial from 2003 to 2006, where he led a strategic transformation and multiple acquisitions, and as an executive at ChiRex, Inc., a pharmaceutical services company. Mr. Lindstrom has a BA in Economics from Colby College and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

Justina Sanchez-Uzzell

Senior Vice President, Chief People Officer

Justina Sanchez-Uzzell was appointed Chief People Officer and Senior Vice President on March 9, 2014. Prior to Providence, she spent almost 15 years at Banner Healthcare, where she most recently served as Chief Human Resource Officer and senior executive accountable for strategic, fiscal and operational excellence of human resources and staffing services throughout Banner Health’s service area across seven states. Prior to that, Ms. Sanchez-Uzzell was accountable for all of the human resources functions and a variety of business operations at two of Banner Health’s hospitals. Ms. Sanchez-Uzzell holds a B.B.A. in Business Management from the University of Phoenix and her MBA from Grand Canyon University.

William Severance

Chief Accounting Officer

William Severance was appointed Chief Accounting Officer in March 2016. Prior to joining Providence, Mr. Severance held the Chief Accounting Officer and Controller role at a number of companies, including: the Gilt Groupe, a pioneer in e-commerce in the U.S.; Travelport Worldwide, a global travel commerce platform providing distribution and technology solutions to the travel industry; and IAC/Interactive Corp, a leading media and Internet company. Mr. Severance also worked for 11 years for Ernst and Young in the Atlanta, New York and Hamburg, Germany offices, providing services to a wide range of companies, including American Standard, Coca-Cola Enterprises, Mizuno USA, Mobil Oil, Time Warner Music Group and Staples. Mr. Severance received a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Louisiana State University.

David Shackelton

Chief Financial Officer

David Shackelton was appointed Chief Financial Officer on August 6, 2015, having previously served as Head of Corporate Development for the company since February 2014. Prior to joining Providence, Mr. Shackelton was a private equity investment professional at Mill Road Capital and The Blackstone Group. Before joining Blackstone, Mr. Shackelton worked at the Yale Investments Office, the entity responsible for investing Yale University’s endowment funds. Mr. Shackelton has a BA in Economics from Yale University and a MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Sophia Tawil

Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary

Sophia Tawil was appointed General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary in April 2016. Ms. Tawil is responsible for oversight of corporate legal matters, including those relating to the company's growth initiatives, governance and compliance. She joins Providence from Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, where she served as a Senior Attorney and Corporate Associate since 2006. Prior to that, her experience includes in-house roles, including at USA Networks, Inc., a predecessor to IAC/InterActiveCorp. Ms. Tawil received a BA from Barnard College, Columbia University and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Matthew K. Umscheid

Senior Vice President of Strategic Services

Matthew Umscheid joins Providence from Parthenon Capital Partners, where most recently he was Director of Strategy and Implementation. Mr. Umscheid led multiple value creation projects within healthcare services, including portfolio company strategy and operational improvement, carve outs, merger integration and business intelligence. Mr. Umscheid has served on the boards of Parthenon healthcare services companies as well as an advisor and board observer for multiple financial and business services companies. During 2008 and 2009 Mr. Umscheid served as the interim CEO at AccuData Integrated Marketing, a Parthenon Capital portfolio company, where he led turn-around efforts. Prior to 2007, Mr. Umscheid was Manager and Consultant with L.E.K. Consulting. Mr. Umscheid has an MBA from Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and a BS in Civil Engineering from University of Notre Dame.
